American rock band Mayday Parade successfully performed in front of their Filipino fans once again last October 27 at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City. The band expressed their gratitude to everyone who has been with them for the past years and continue to show support for them.

“It’s almost been five years since we’ve been here in Manila. That’s far too long if you ask me,” frontman Derek Sanders said.

They played some of the fan favorites such as “Kids in Love,” “Kids of Summer,” “Jamie All Over,” and “Three Cheers for Five Years,” among others. Throughout the songs performed live by the band, the fans would sing along to which Derek showed his amusement.

“OMG you guys this is wild… I don’t know what we’ve done to deserve you guys. It’s an incredible feeling, I don’t think I’ve ever heard a crowd sing as loud as you guys are singing right now. Thank you guys,” he shared.

The American rock band was incomplete for their Manila show as their guitarist, Brooks Betts, is about to become a father so he stayed behind to accompany his partner. Derek added that the show must go on and the rest of the band will make sure fans will still enjoy the performances.

“You may have noticed that our stage left guitar player Brooks is not here this evening. He’s got a son about to be born any day now so he had to stay home but he’s missing out on this. I know he misses you guys,” he said.

The show encountered some technical difficulties in the middle of a song but the band still delivered as they were able to bounce back from the setback. Fans sang louder to show their support for Mayday Parade which resulted in Derek complimenting them as the “best singing crowd.”

The almost two-hour show ended on a high note as Mayday Parade assured their Filipino fans that they will be back soon with new music.
