South Korean singer Sandara Park recently revealed that G-Dragon of BIGBANG helped her become a fixed member of the now-disbanded girl group 2NE1. She appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel of JYJ and former TVXQ member Jaejoong and discussed several memories of when she was still with 2NE1.

Prior to Sandara’s career break in South Korea, she was already a celebrity in the Philippines after her successful stint on Star Circle Quest.

Sandara then revealed to Jaejoong that she wasn’t preparing for a singing audition in YG Entertainment but rather had her eyes focused on the acting auditions.

“I wasn’t a fixed member yet. I was auditioning to act [and] I joined while I was training to act. So it was a dramatic change,” she shared.

The 38-year-old singer added that she would always go to a karaoke to practice her vocals. Sandara shared that she went with G-Dragon so that he could vouch for her to their boss at that time.

“I asked G-Dragon when ‘LIES’ was out and BIGBANG had more power. I thought if G-Dragon went to Hyun-suk (Yang Hyun-suk, YG Entertainment CEO) and say ‘Dara is really good’ [then] it would really happen,” she shared.

Sandara shared that she performed a Jennifer Lopez song in front of G-Dragon to boast of her vocal strength to the BIGBANG member. Though, she admitted that she didn’t know if it helped her chances of being a fixed member of the South Korean girl group.

“We did have to film ourselves singing every month. So he saw it and said .‘she isn’t great but she’s the cool one,’” she added.

Sandara later became a member of 2NE1 before the disbandment in 2016. All four members of the girl group are now pursuing solo careers but still find time to see each other every now and then.
