Bae Suzy revealed that portraying her role in the upcoming Netflix series Doona! brought back memories of her time as a K-pop idol.

It can be recalled that Suzy first debuted as a member of K-pop group Miss A in 2010 before she ventured into acting.

"As I was acting out Doona!, I did think of the times when I was part of a girl group," Suzy said as reported by ABS-CBN News.

"So looking back, I feel like there were moments that I felt I was struggling but I didn't really know much. I think I tried to deny that I was struggling. I tried to just stay [as] a bubbly person."

In Doona!, Suzy takes on the character of Lee Doona, a former member of the popular girl group Sweet Dream who abruptly steps away from the entertainment world while still at the height of her fame.

Doona relocates to a shared house in a college town, where she crosses paths with a guileless college freshman named Lee Won-jun, portrayed by Yang Se-jong.

The actress shared that she said yes to doing the project as she found the story exciting.

"When I first got the script, I went ahead and read the original webtoon because it is based on an original webtoon... it was so exciting, really. There was that particular mood and vibe that was unique to Doona!" she relayed.

"I was also drawn to the character because it’s a character I’ve never played before."

Se-jong also felt the intensity of the story when he first read it.

"My heart was pounding so loud," he remarked.

The actor shared that he also decided to do the project as it might be the last chance that he will be able to play a character in his 20s as he is already 30 years old.

"[Doona! might be] the last drama series ever for me to be able to play a character like Won-jun, who’s in his early 20s so that’s why I decided to come on board," he said.

The series is directed by Crash Landing on You director Lee Jung-hyo.
