With his girlfriend Kathryn Bernardo reaping positive reviews since the release of her Star Cinema dark comedy A Very Good Girl, Daniel Padilla revealed to PUSH in an exclusive interview why he could not be happier for his reel-and-real life love team partner.
DJ is also set to star in his own solo movie project with John Arcilla called The Guest as well as another movie with Kathryn, both slated for release next year.
“Wala naman pressure eh. Wala naman akong mahihiling kundi laging pagpupuri sa lahat ng ginagawa namin, sa ginagawa ko at siyempre ni Kathryn. Kasi yung victory namin mag-isa ay victory rin naming dalawa, para sa isa’t isa all the time,” he admitted.
With almost 13 years of acting under his belt, starting with a supporting role in the ABS-CBN show Gimik 2010 before getting his first starring role in the teen-oriented drama series Growing Up in 2011 which is where he also got paired with Kathryn for the first time, DJ admitted his longevity in showbiz was not as easy as it looks.

“I do get tired (laughs). Nakakapagod din. Nakakapagod din pero you know, it’s part of the job. And lagi namang pagka andiyan yung nakikita mo yung mga sumusuporta at nagmamahal lagi, lagi namang nag-re-refresh yung pakiramdam mo. Ganun naman ang pakiramdam. And every time pagka like yung gagawin naming bagong film, mabubuhay ka na naman dahil na-e-excite ka na naman sa puwede mong magampanan na bagong role di ba? Ma-e-excite ka sa craft mo. Kaya ganun lang,” he explained to PUSH.

Before starring in his first primetime series Princess and I and holding successful solo concerts, DJ said he was a reluctant star who was originally content playing the bass guitar with his band Parking 5 alongside his younger brother JC who was the vocalist.

“Well, hindi naman kasi ako talaga naging singer, alam mo yun? Hindi naman talaga ako kumakanta nun so ngayon lang mas enjoy na ako, natutunan ko mahalin ang craft natin, and you know it’s challenging. Yun yung pinakamasarap dun, pag na-pu-pull off mo yung napaka-challenging na mga eksena di ba? Mga ganun. What am I grateful for? Lahat. Everything. Iba iba ang dating sa akin ng bawat proyekto,” he admitted.

“I think yun naman ang definition ng pagiging human, nakakalimutan lang natin. Siguro yung attitude, I don’t think that’s attitude. Lahat naman tayo may moods, lahat tayo, kahit sino naman eh. So yun lang. Kami lang yung na-le-label na ganun kasi kami lang yung nakikita . Pero lahat tayo, yung mga panahon na wala tayo sa mood, may panahong masaya tayo, may panahong malungkot tayo, may panahon na wala tayong gana, so that’s normal,” he added.
