Suspects in Ronnie Alonte and Loisa Andalio ‘basag-kotse’ case arrested

After revealing that he lost not just three mobile phones, but also ₱1B worth of cryptocurrency during a car burglary in front of his new business in Cavite last month, the suspects in Ronnie Alonte and Loisa Andalio’s basag-kotse case have finally been arrested. This was revealed in an exclusive story by ABS-CBN News last January 2,

According to the report, the public started being victimized by the “basag-kotse” gang as early as September 2022 in Binan, Laguna before celebrity couple Ronnie Alonte and Loisa Andalio also lost items from their parked vehicle in Bacoor, Cavite last December. These were followed by other burglaries in neighboring areas like Cabuyao and Calamba,, Laguna. According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), only one group has been behind all these incidents. Based on the CCTV footage collected at the scene of the crime, the getaway vehicle used was the same for the separate burglaries.

The suspects were tracked when one of their victims was able to help the police pinpoint their location via an air tag on the laptop which was stolen. A couple was arrested as suspects in Bacoor, Cavite where the laptop was found along with the other stolen items.

According to information gathered by the police from the suspects, they were able to commit burglaries five to ten times a day in Calabarzon and many parts of Metro Manila. It was also discovered that the suspects already had a warrant of arrest out on them for burglary. The suspects are currently detained at the San Pedro, Laguna PNP and will be facing cases of robbery and theft while two the police search for two more members of their gang.
