Pia Wurtzbach admitted that she wanted to change one answer she mentioned during her stint at the Miss Universe competition back in 2015.

The former Miss Universe winner made the revelation in a vlog released during her birthday last Saturday, September 24.

The beauty queen admitted that she was happy with her answers during the competition itself but said that she has since learned about the implications of her answer following the pageant.

“Siguro yung papalitan ko [ay] yung sagot ko doon sa ibang question. ‘Yung tungkol sa military bases in the Philippines,” she answered.

During Miss Universe 2015, Pia was asked about her opinion on the presence of the US military in the Philippines.

“I think that the United States and the Philippines [have] always had a good relationship with each other. We were colonized by the Americans and we have their culture in our traditions even up to this day. And I think we’re very welcoming with the Americans and I don’t see any problem with that at all,” she previously answered.

Looking back at her answer, the 33-year-old actress admitted that there might have been a lapse in her judgment when she blurted it out back then. However, Pia added that it felt like it was the right answer to give out as she was in front of the American audience.

“Kasi ngayon mas napag uusapan na yung effects ng colonialism. In a few years, I think that answer will come back to me on Twitter. Aware ako na that should’ve been better. Yung mga time na yun, di pa naman ganun ka-woke so okay lang na sabihin yun.” she said.

She also shared what she has learned better after her Miss Universe stint. For her, she is just like everyone who continues to learn and grow.

Pia won the Miss Universe crown back in 2015 after 42 years of title drought. She competed in the Binibining Pilipinas thrice before she coveted the Miss Universe crown.
