Carla Abellana’s dad Rey “PJ” Abellana has spoken up about the issue involving the marriage of his daughter and Tom Rodriguez.

In an interview with Cristy Fermin, PJ answered the questions that have long been sitting in the minds of fans: What really happened between then-newlyweds Carla and Tom?

PJ admitted it came as a shock to him when he found out about the news that the relationship of his daughter and son-in-law was supposedly on the rocks.

“Partikular na isa akong magulang, siyempre malaking gulat sa akin ‘yun. Agad na minessage ko ang anak ko si Carla, pinilit kong alamin kaagad kung bakit ito nakarating na sa akin,” PJ said.

“[Sabi ko] may lumalabas na issue tungkol sa inyong mag-asawa.’ Gusto kong alamin, sabi ko, ‘Kung ito ay issue lang ba ito ng showbiz, may laman ba ‘to o wala,’” he added.

PJ went on to share that he knew right away the rumors were true because Carla did not respond to his message.

“Nung unang minessage ko ang anak ko, hindi agad nag-reply. Alam niyo, du’n pa lang na hindi agad nakapagreply yung anak ko si Carla eh pumasok sa isipan ko na may laman yung isyu na to tungkol sa kanila,” he said.

But it did not take too long for Carla to respond to him, admitting things aren’t okay between them.

“After few days, nag-reply na po si Carla sa akin. Ganito ang pagkakasabi ng anak ko sa akin, ‘Tom and I are not okay. Anyway papa, we would [like] people to give us the respect,’” he shared.

But PJ said he still has no idea about the real issue between them, although he revealed Carla asked him not to address the public at that time.

Then again, he made it clear that Tom and Carla have not still not called it quits.

“Hindi ko po sinasabi na hiwalay na ang anak ko sa kanilang pag-aasawa. Hindi ko sinasabi na hiwalay na ang dalawa. Ang point ko dito, kung ano man ang problema nilang mag-asawa ay sine-settle nila ng sila lang para maayos ito. Dahil hindi sila lulugar sa pagpapakasal para lang maghiwalay,” he said.

But PJ dropped a bomb when he revealed Tom committed “infidelity,” with Tom admitting this to him. At this point, he still hasn’t heard Carla’s side.

“Honestly speaking, hindi po natin mako-consider na third party. Kasi po ang pangyayari, one night stand eh. So hindi po natin yun kino-consider na third party,” he said.

Coming to Tom’s defense, he said: “Inaaamin ko na ‘yan bilang lalaki ako. Ako way back, nangayayari din po ‘yan sa akin. Medyo normal po ‘yan sa buhay ng mga lalaki. Kaya naiintindihan ko po ‘yan.”

Addressing gay rumors thrown against Tom, he said: “I don’t think so. Hindi ko po nakikita ‘yan at hindi ko pinaniniwalaan ‘yan.”
