The novel won the Grand Prize at the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, which is considered the highest literary prize in the Philippines, in 2011.

The Mango Bride will be directed by Filipino-Canadian Martin Edralin (Hole, Emma) from a screenplay by Rae Red (Babae At Baril, Birdshot).
