John Arcilla receives artwork inspired by ‘Heneral Luna’

Award-winning actor John Arcilla was gifted by pebble portrait artist Niño Marasigan with an art piece that depicted his character in the film Heneral Luna. The actor praised the artist on his Instagram as he was honored to be given such a gift.

The artwork was made with acrylic paint and stones on canvas.

John explained why he was given such a gift by the artist. He shared that Niño had been a fan of his portrayal of Gen. Antonio Luna in Heneral Luna that he was inspired to create a masterpiece.

“Pebble Portrait Artist Nińo Marasigan owner of @pebble_studio_gallery gave tribute to my portrayal of Antonio Luna and gifted me a portrait that commemorates his rekindled patriotism brought by my film Heneral Luna and his love for my work according to him,” he wrote.

On the other hand, Niño also expressed his admiration for the actor’s passion for the arts and was thankful that John was also an art collector.

“Isang malaking karangalan at pasasalamat ang makadaupang palad ang isang hinahangaang actor, sulit ang mahabang biyahe,” he shared on Instagram.

The 56-year-old veteran actor played the role of Gen. Luna in Heneral Luna wherein he was awarded and nominated for several best actor awards from different award-giving bodies. The film also made huge waves as it won best picture, best director, best editing to name a few.

“Thank you Nińo, this gesture is both humbling and inspiring. May the God of the Arts keep you inspired and make you prosperous and affluent. God bless you more. Salute to you Nińo and a Wednesday full of Gratitude and Blessings to all,” he ended.

Meanwhile, On the Job: The Missing 8 was recently announced as the Philippines’ entry to the Oscars. John won the prestigious Volpi Cup for Best Actor for his performance as Narciso Salas at the Venice Film Festival last year.
