With her first ever digital concert called Love United all set to happen on October 23, singer Sheryn Regis shared what she has learned after transitioning from doing live events to going digital.

“Well iba talaga yung adjustment. This was pre-recorded but it was made as live talaga dire-diretso.

Now totally cancer-free, Sheryn is happy to be going back to performing and making a new album under Star Music for her fans.

“I’m just so glad and so proud that I’m cancer-free. Sana wala na talaga. Wala na siya. I know wala na. Cancer-free na. I’m just very fortunate na ABS-CBN Star Music really believes in my talent kasi sa panahong hindi na ako naniniwala sa sarili ko, nandiyan sila. Even my management nandiyan sila to really push me, na you still can do whatever you want kasi you have that passion in singing. So meron pa. Kumbaga sa buhay, Sheryn may asim ka pa (laughs),” she said.

Having been a singer for more than three decades, Sheryn said she appreciates all kinds of music, even admitting she also listens to K-pop.

“I’ve heard a lot of songs from BTS, ganyan. Gusto ko BTS din basta gusto ko silang lahat kasi they’re all so cute. I like their outfits. K-pop in general gusto ko sila kasi nag-e-evolve talaga sila. Actually na-influence nila whole world even in America may mga puti na gustong gusto yung K-pop. And I like their style. Alam naman natin kung gaano nila wini-work lahat, kung gaano sila nagtrabaho for that image nila at sa success nila. They’re an inspiration. Inspirasyon silang lahat for me,” she revealed.

Earlier in her career, Sheryn joined the ABS-CBN singing competition Star in a Million in 2003 where she placed second to Erik Santos. The 40-year-old singer explainsed that she was not being bitter after returning to Cebu right after the contest ended.

“Honestly may narinig ako at that time. The competition finals was in January right? So nung narinig ko, ‘The winner is… blah, blah, blah,’ and then nakita ko si Erik (Santos) naisip ko oo nga lalake yung pinapanalo nila, totoo. Pero hindi naman ako talagang bitter nun. It’s just that parang feeling ko na-disappoint ako sa sarili ko. Ano bang ginawa mo Sheryn? Failure ka na naman, ganun. Loser ka na naman. Yun yung feeling ko. Ganun ka-bitter yung feeling ko for myself. Hindi dahil sa natalo ako kay Erik. It’s not his fault.

“Na-disappoint ako kasi feeling ko at that time I really wanted to win. I needed money. So that was a great opportunity sana na magkapera ako. Down na down ako at that time. Na-question ko pa nga bakit ganun, parang sinakluban ako ng buong mundo,” she shared.

Sheryn said that when she thought she was at the lowest point in her career, an unexpected opportunity for her came along. “Ang hindi ko alam pala, na that thing it led me to a lot of opportunities.

A true blue Cebuana, Sheryn said that her Bisaya fans will be happy to hear their dialect included in her concert repertoire. ”Well probably bits and pieces may konti akong linagay na Bisaya doon. Because I’m just so proud na dii dapat mawala ang pagka-Bisaya ni Sheryn Regis. Dapat i-represent natin nag pagka Bisaya,” she shared.

Love United is presented by ABS-CBN Events and produced by MAK Entertainment. Tickets for the concert are now available online for P899/USD 17.99 (regular) and P1,4999/USD 30 (VIP with access to digital after party).

Love United streams 8 pm PhST via KTX.ph, iWantTFC, and TFC IPTV on October 23 (Saturday) with a re-run the next day (October 24) at 10 am PhST.
