Vice Ganda — whose sister Dr. Cristina “Tina” Viceral serves as a doctor-frontliner during the COVID-19 pandemic — paid tribute to frontliners who are working in the medical field.

Vice said frontliners need more love, appreciation, and respect on top of the much-deserved increase in compensation and benefits.

This, after health workers appealed to the government to go back to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) following the overwhelming demands in hospitals due to the rising number of COVID-19 patients.

“More love. More appreciation. More respect. Yan ang deserve ng mga FRONTLINERS ngayon. Bukod sa mas mataas na kompensasyon at benipisyo,” he wrote.

Vice went on to say that while he acknowledges the fact that he can’t take away the exhaustion and stress from all the hard work they have put out during the ongoing health crisis, he wanted to thank them for all the sacrifices they have made for the country.

Meanwhile, Vice Ganda’s It’s Showtime co-host Vhong Navarro also echoed Vice’s sentiments and said their sacrifices don’t go unnoticed.

Ramdam namin ang hirap at sacripisyo ninyo. Respeto, pagunawa at pagmamahal para sa ating mga medical frontliners,” Vhong wrote.

In a letter addressed to President Rodrigo Duterte, President of Philippine Medical Association — Jose Santiago — wrote: “Healthcare workers are united in sounding a distress signal.” He added: “Our healthcare system has been overwhelmed.”

Vice message is timely as Senator Cynthia Villar recently belittled the efforts of medical frontliners and their appeal for stricter quarantine measures in light of the rapidly rising COVID-19 cases.

As of this writing, the Philippines has already recorded more than 98,000 COVID-19 cases, with 65,265 recoveries and 2,039 deaths.
