South Korean singer Chunga is the latest K-Pop idol to test positive for COVID-19.

Chungha’s agency — MNH Entertainment — announced that the 24-year-old singer contracted the deadly respiratory illness.

“Chungha recently found out that she had come into contact with a confirmed case and voluntarily got tested. On the morning of December 7, the test results came out positive,” MNH wrote in a statement as translated by Korean entertainment site Soompi.

The statement added: “Chungha halted all of her activities and immediately entered self-quarantine, and she is taking the necessary measures instructed by health authorities.”

MNH also guaranteed that they will make sure every person with whom Chungha crossed paths with will get tested. They went on to say that their headquarters would be properly disinfected.

In a statement posted on her official fan café, Chungha penned a message of reassurance to her fans that she did all the things she can not to get infected with the disease.

“Our Byulharang (Chungha’s fans), I’m leaving this post in case you get too worried if I don’t say anything. I’m sorry and sorry again. I tried to be careful, but I guess it wasn’t enough. I was also urgently notified today and just found out,” she wrote.

Chungha — who recently marked a new era in her career with the release of her pre-single “Dream of You” off her forthcoming album called Querencia — was forced to stop her promotional activities due to her current condition.

But Chunga promised her fans that she will get back to work as soon as she gets better.

“I’ll return again and promote in good health! Our Byulharang should also be careful and careful once more! Don’t worry too much, and let’s meet soon! Once again, I’m sorry,” she added in the statement released on her official fan café,” she stated.

Born Kim Chung-ha, the K-Pop idol rose to prominence after joining the Mnet-produced show Produce 101.

She initially became part of the group I.O.I., but eventually pursued a solo career after the group’s dissolution.

Last March, two of Chungha's staff tested positive for COVID-19.

Apart from Chungha, other K-Pop artists who tested positive include Bitto of the boy band Up10tion and Sihyeon and Yiren of the six-piece girl group Everglow.
