Fans of the 2013 hit film Four Sisters and a Wedding will recognize Joao Constancia’s character Chad in the prequel Four Sisters Before the Wedding. The role was originally played by Bernard Palanca who was the love interest of both Bea Alonzo and Angel Locsin in the original film.

“I’ll be playing the younger Chad from the original film. Dito sa movie na ito malalaman niyo yung storya behind yung relationship namin, yung story namin ni Alex and Bobbie. I guess the difference in my character. You won’t see so much of the douchebag side in the original film. You’ll see more of the younger, youthful Chad here. Hopefully you guys will see the story of what happened between me, Bobbie, and Alex. Kung bakit ganito yung relationship naming tatlo at paano naging ganun yung relationship ni Bobbie at ni Alex,” he explained.

Working with his peers, Joao said he enjoyed every moment on their locked-in set. “To be honest, it was an amazing experience para sa akin ito. Kilala ko na naman sina Gillian (Vicencio), si Belle (Mariano) nakatrabaho ko na sila dati so I knew them before but we didn’t have the opportunity to work yet to get to know each other better. Pero in this movie we had a greater bond, we had a greater understanding of each other kasi nakilala na namin ang isa’t isa. Sobrang bait nilang lahat. As in parang mga sisters ko na rin mga yan, you know. I’ll take care of them on and off cam and it was just an amazing experience for me,” he recalled.

Having to do scenes mainly with Gillian Vicencio and Alexa Ilacad, Joao said he enjoyed being their love interest in the film.

“Para sa akin obviously, Gillian and Alexa are two very beautiful young ladies. What I really liked about Gillian is she’s very open. I remember pag may mga eksena kami, she would always want to talk through a scene, ask for each other’s help talaga. As actors, we always want to give the proper emotions towards one another para maramdam din ng audience yung mga emotions namin doon.

“Sobrang ganda naman ni Alexa. Ang bait ni Alexa. That’s what I really liked about her. And she’s fun to be with talaga. It’s really cool because I guess with our chemistry, we just kind of clicked lang rin. We just had to be our characters and just look at each other in the eye and yun lang talaga,” he explained.

When asked how he feels about being pegged as one of the new batch of leading men, Joao said he is just feeling thankful more than anything this year. “Being an emerging leading man I think we’re being very lucky and blessed that during the pandemic we’re still able to work and we’re part of this amazing cast and crew. We’re part of this amazing film. Sana with God’s blessing and our management’s guidance, sana papunta na dun sa direction na yun sa career namin,” he said.
