Pumanaw na sa edad na 80 anyos ang dating matinee idol na si Jose Mari Gonzales.

Pasado 6:30 nitong umaga nang sumakabilang buhay ang dating aktor dahil sa cardiac arrest.

Sa pamamagitan ng Facebook post kinomprima ng veteran entertainment columnist at malapit din na kaibigan ng mga Gonzales na si Aster Amoyo ang malungkot na balita.

Nakilala si Jose Mari bilang isa sa mga hinahanggaang aktor ng Sampaguita Films.

Bukod sa pagiging matinee idol, aktibo din na mang-aawit si Gonzales. Naging presidente din noon ng isang TV network ang dating aktor bago nito pinasok ang mundo ng pulitika.

Iniwan ni Jose Mari ang kanyang Misis na si Charito “Chayong” Malarky-Gonzales at limang anak na sina Cristina, Jose Luis, Michael, Ana Margarita at Jose Mari, Jr.

Nakatakdang ilagak ngayong gabi hanggang sa Herotage Memorial Chapel sa Taguig ang mga labi ng dating aktor.
