Darren Espanto finally set foot on the stage on Singer 2019, dubbed as one of the biggest singing competitions in China, Singer 2019, and he showed off his vocal prowess alongside one of the show's contestants and two other artists in front of millions of Chinese viewers.

Espanto, who was chosen by the producers of the Hunan TV show back in January, joined Russian singer Polina Gagarina together with artists named Daneliya Tuleshova and AIR for the finale of the show and performed U.S.A. For Africa's "We Are The World," and earned a standing ovation.

Last year, KZ Tandingan also joined Singer 2019 as one of its participants and competed against pop superstar Jessie J from the UK, Tien Chong from Hong Kong, Angela Chang from Taiwan, Li Xiaodong, Wang Feng, James Li, and Juno Su from China.

In an interview with Darren Espanto before he flew to China last Wednesday, April 10, he revealed that he got a piece of advice from KZ for his guest appearance.

“Isa siya sa unang nag-react. Sinabi ko na na-meet ko ‘yung mga taga-The Singer, and she was so supportive of me. Sabi niya, ‘’Wag kang kakabahan. Alam mong marami kang pagdadaanan diyan.’ She was already giving me ‘yung mga Mandarin songs na parang bagay sa ‘kin, [na] dapat aralin ko na if ever. Until now, she’s just very supportive and excited for me as well,” he stated.
