It may seem impossible for her to get back to her pre-pregnancy body, but actress and now-celebrity mom Isabelle Daza proved herself wrong when she lost an impressive 68 pounds of weight a few months following the birth of her baby boy, Balthazar.

The Play House star, last Thursday, took to her YouTube channel to upload a new video chronicling her fitness journey post-partum – something that she shared required a lot of sacrifices and discipline from herself.

“After pregnancy, I’m happy to say that I am actually even lower than my pre-pregnancy weight. But it took a lot of sacrifices and that was very difficult. There’s no secret,” she said. “I’m sharing my journey because hopefully, I’ll be able to inspire someone and other moms out there who want to do it but don’t know where to start.”

Isabelle started her fitness training in February last year while she was 36 weeks pregnant with her son. She was 194 lbs. then and was simultaneously suffering from gestational diabetes.

After her giving birth via Caesarian Section in April, the 'It Girl' started getting back on track within only three weeks post-partum, contrary to her doctor’s recommendation of eight weeks. She was then diagnosed with mastitis, which is a medical condition for an “infection of the tissue of the breast that occurs more frequently during the time of breastfeeding”.

“[Today], I weighed myself. I’m 176 pounds from 204 pounds,” she said. “Every day I weigh myself and I kinda feel bad. People are gonna watch this and think that I’m obsessed with weight, which I slightly am.”

With the help of her personal trainer Arnold Aninion, Isabelle started getting serious with her weight training the following month. Her daily workout routine consisted of light cardio in an inclined treadmill for 30-45 minutes before she even have her breakfast.

She was focused and determined to reach new heights with her fitness journey, but it was also during this phase that she was weighed even further down by her insecurities. In tears, Isabelle admitted that she had a hard time adjusting to the changes in her body after getting pregnant.

“Having a Caesarian section, which I wasn’t planning on makes it even harder to recover. So, I’m so tormented, my brain, because in one way, the Caesarian section saved his life and I’m so grateful for that,” she said of her son. “But in another way, when I see my scar, it makes me so sad.”

“To think that, it’s so shallow, right? It’s weight gain. It’s so sad to think that I have all this weight and I hate seeing it,” she continued. “Everybody’s talking about loving your body, but I’m just at a stage in my life where I’m insecure of my body… The worst part is I have all these friends who look so good and they’re just stick-thin, and you’re just thinking like ‘why me?’ I’m not like that.”

Nevertheless, Isabelle carried on, this time with the help of her friends to push her to work harder during their group training sessions. This, on top of swimming, running, doing yoga and calisthenics training at home, and attending spin class for her to just “keep moving”.

Of course, all this wouldn’t work out without sticking to a healthy diet, as per Arnold’s guidance.

“Arnold put me on a specific macro nutrient count which consisted of 76 grams per meal of carbohydrates, 56g per meal of protein, and 20g per meal of fats. All of this was approved by my doctor as well,” she said.

“I think having a support system when you’re trying to diet is very helpful. I also conditioned my mind into changing my relationship with food: it was to nourish me and not as a punishment,” she added.

And while she may not always be strict with eating healthy, Isabelle stayed consistent by working out daily.

“If you were to ask me my advice, it would be to build a sustainable lifestyle incorporating healthy eating with the occasional indulgence as well as finding the right workout that suits you,” she said. “It’s all about the work you’re willing to put in. Focusing on a goal and not stopping until you reach it.”
