John Mark Saga finished first runner-up next to grand champion Elaine Duran in the latest season of Tawag ng Tanghalan on It’s Showtime. Aside from his voice, people noticed his outfit during the finals.

The singer then explained on Tonight with Boy Abunda that he chose to wear a gown to express himself.

“Nag-decide po ako to go that route kasi I want to cross borders. Kapag ang women nag we-wear ng pants, nale-label sila as powerful but men when they wear skirts or gowns, nale-label sila as disgusting,” he explained.

“I want to prove something na you can wear whatever you want as long as wala kang natatapakang tao. Kumbaga this is just an expression, kumbaga it’s coming from my soul na if I want to go outside kapag nagpe-perform ako na hindi na nila tatanungin ‘Why?’” John Mark added.

John Mark also shared that he only realized days before the grand finals that “My journey was not to win, but to find myself and the fact na nagawa ko po siya noong grand finals, nanalo na po ako.”

He then said that he is starting to be proud of himself and his achievements now.
