One of this generation’s most sought-after young actresses, Maymay Entrata revealed her insecurities before she managed to score a spot in the Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky Season 7 in 2016.

Maymay shared with Starstudio.ph her journey prior to entering Big Brother’s house, auditioning for ABS-CBN shows as young as 14 years old. According to the report, she failed to make it to Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Clash 2010, Pinoy Big Brother: 737, The Voice Philippines, and Pilipinas Got Talent.

Opening up about her insecurities, she said, “Feeling ko, hindi nila ako tanggap, kasi feeling ko, payat ako, wala akong boobs para matanggap ako dito. Kulang ang ilong ko, lakihan ko pa mata ko. Siguro hindi ako matanggap-tanggap, kasi parang hindi naman ako mukhang artista.”

However, personal problems made her decide to pursue her dreams, specifically when her grandfather, the person who raised her, started getting sick. She said, “Simula noong nakita ko ‘yung Lolo ko na nahihirapan na siya, ‘yung komplikado na ‘yung estado ng katawan niya. Sabi ko, kailangan hindi ako susuko. Kaya nag-audition ako ulit dun sa amin. College ako sa Cagayan, ako lang mag-isa. Parang sunud-sunod ‘yung problema, parang nagkasunod-sunod. Hanggang sa naisip ko na dapat hindi ako susuko. Lalaban pa rin ako.”

“Nasa isip ko dati na mag-audition ako hanggang 20, ‘di ko alam bakit, pero parang may instinct na kaya ko rin,” she added. Maymay then auditioned for the PBB season that made her grand winner.
