ABS-CBN-owned record label Star Music recently acquired the rights to distribute the songs composed by veteran songwriters Max Surban and Ernie Dela Pena.

In a contract signing event held at Star Music headquarters, ABS-CBN Music President Roxy Liquigan officially welcomed King of Visayan songs Max Surban ("Baleleng," "Ang Tao'y Marupok") as well as renowned Filipino composer Ernie Dela Pena ("May Bukas Pa," "Kapalaran," "Ang Pag-ibig Kong Ito," "Magsayawan") to the Star Music family.

Surban, who has worked with fellow Bisdak pride Manny Pacquiao in the past, hopes to work with him again soon.

"Kung babalik siya, maganda ring gawan ng kanta," he said.

Sharing what kind of song he would like to write for the boxing champ, he said: "Serious na may touch of humor."

Meanwhile, Dela Pena also revealed which artist he hoped could do a new rendition of some of his hits.

"Si Sarah Geronimo. Ang boses niya is angkop talaga," he said.

Asked what song he wants the Popstar Royalty to give life, he answered: "’Ang Pag-ibig Kong Ito’ o di kaya 'yung ‘May Bukas Pa.’"

Dela Pena is also the man behind "Araw Araw, Gabi Gabi" which is currently the theme song for JM De Guzman and Barbie Imperial's teleserye Araw Gabi.
