For non-UP students, it can be pretty tricky seeing someone wearing a sablay, especially during graduation season. While it may seem like there would be no difference whichever side you place it, there actually is. Not because one wears a sablay, doesn't mean he or she finished college from the country's premier State University.

Juan Miguel Severo, who took up Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, explained why he had to place his sablay on the right side of his shoulder when he recently attended UP College of Mass Communication's commencement exercises.

"It was weird and awkward to be the only one with their sablay on the right shoulder the entire time (that means I didn't graduate), but it's such an honor to perform for the graduates and the faculty of the college I love. Thank you, Maskom," he wrote.

Juan Miguel Severo, who is famously known for his role in On The Wings Love, met director Antoinette Jadaone in the film organization UP Cinema.
