As one of the most popular Asian actors to cross over from Chinese action films to Hollywood movies, Jet Li has enjoyed a successful career spanning more than three decades. Li starred in the hugely popular Shaolin Temple and Once Upon in China movies in the ‘80s and ‘90s. His Hollywood career took off with projects like Lethal Weapon 4, Romeo Must Die, all The Expendables films, and Forbidden Kingdom among others.

During the course of his career, Li was known to have also suffered serious leg and spine injuries. In recent years Li has been reported to be battling hyperthyroidism, a condition that can cause fatigue and weight loss, fueling rumors about his declining health.

Lately, the action star was photographed donning glasses and sporting a shaved head in a temple in Tibet according to a report by the South China Morning Post. Although the 55-year-old martial arts expert appeared to need assistance while walking, his manager Steven Chasman, in an interview with The Washington Post, clarified all speculations about his client. “He has hyperthyroidism that he’s been dealing with for almost 10 years. It’s nothing life-threatening and he’s dealing with it. I guess it’s sensationalism,” Chasman explained.
