Former Kapamilya actor Don Laurel is now a Toronto police officer. Don was featured on CBC Toronto recently as the police who was a former soap opera star from the Philippines. He previously starred in Gimik and Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan.

According Don, being a former actor helped him connect with Toronto’s Filipino community as an officer. “Sometimes I do get a lot of calls into the station saying ‘Oh is officer Laurel available today? I want to speak to him, I want to tell him something.’ I think when the Filipinos call and look for me it’s good as well. That means they trust me,” he said.
