On Tonight with Boy Abunda, Pinoy Big Brother Lucky 7’s Overseas Filipino Warrior ng Tondo, Jerome Alacre, recalled his apprehension in revealing that he’s gay on television.
“Mayroong part na medyo natatakot ako kasi hindi ko alam kung ano yung magiging response ng tao especially paglabas ko. But deep inside, ang hope ko pa rin is sana maging maganda yung pagtanggap ng tao.”

The first person to know of his true sexuality was his mother. “Alam po ng mama ko. Yung mother ko po yung unang taong nakaalam at pinagsabihan ko. Surprisingly, ang sabi po sa akin ng nanay ko, ‘anak hindi mo na kailangan magpaliwanag kasi bata ka pa lang, naramdaman ko na.’ Sobrang masaya po sa feeling talaga.”

Among his fellow housemates, Jerome was able to associate himself the most with Yong Muhajil. He mused, “Kasi nakikita ko po yung story ko kay Yong. Parang parehas din kami ng pinagdaanan sa buhay. Yung pagsusumikap namin para maitaguyod yung pamilya namin at para makatulong, nakikita ko rin po kay Yong yun kaya […] madali po kaming nagkasundo.”
