After besting 11 other contestants from different countries in the search for Asian singing talents conducted by Asian entertainment channel GEM, Girltrend member Krissha Viaje finally came out on top. After making it as a finalist, she will now be competing in the fi-nals of Nippon TV's “I Can Sing in Japanese!” which will be held in Tokyo, Japan.

'A friend tagged me in ‘I Can Sing In Japanese's’ promotional video posted on GEM TV's Facebook page because she knows I love singing Japanese songs. I followed the instructions and mechanics. I wasn't really expecting but after a few weeks, they informed me that I passed the online prelims and will be able to compete in the Asia on-ground au-ditions held in Singapore,” she told PUSH.

Krissha said she started singing when she was very young, even before her mom decid-ed to enroll her in singing lessons.

“My mom told me I started memorizing nursery rhymes and singing in tune at two years old. My first inspiration was Celine Dion. I really loved her song ‘My Heart Will Go On.’ Professor Rigor Aguila of RATCAT Philippines taught me all the techniques in sing-ing. When it comes to singing, I really look up to Yeng Constantino, Kyla, Morissette Amon, KZ Tandingan, Gary V, Bugoy Drilon and lots more,” she shared.

When she is not busy performing with the all-female group Girltrend on “It’s Show-time,” Krissha said she also enjoys doing simple things at home.

'I also love dancing. Sometimes, I make dance cover videos of K-pop songs. During my free time, I enjoy watching Japanese/Korean movies/dramas, anime, and horror movies at home. I stopped schooling for the meantime because of work but I am an irregular 2nd year college student,” she revealed.

Even after making it into the final round of “I Can Sing” and recording two albums and making several music videos under Universal Music Japan for the past three years, Krissha said she has set higher goals for herself this year.

'Of course every aspiring singer dreams to have a successful singing career. I am open to opportunities that may come my way,” she said.

Nippon TV's “I Can Sing in Japanese!” will air on GEM later this year.
