Almost a week since her sister Max Eigenmann’s revelation, Andi Eigenmann finally spoke up why she has opted not to address the issue immediately.

Andi’s absence in the recent Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Forum organized by her show The Greatest Love has sparked curiosity among the public and the press.

'Recent events have put my daughter Ellie into the limelight with the media, netizens, and strangers questioning who her father is. I made a conscious choice not to talk about the paternity of my daughter in order to protect the privacy of Ellie,' The Greatest Love star said in a statement released on Friday.

Andi stressed that her daughter remains a private citizen despite being part of a showbiz family.

'Although she was born into a showbiz family, as a mother, I would like to shield her from the intrigues and gossip that are part of the industry,” she said.

Nevertheless Andi did not confirm nor deny her sister’s statement about Ellie’s paternity.

“Growing up, Ellie knew who her father was and he has been there for her, and that's all that matters. I hope this will put the issue to rest, out of concern for my very young daughter. I'm requesting everyone to respect the privacy of Ellie,' she said.

It may be recalled that Max casually revealed in an episode of Good Times with Mo that Jake Ejercito, Andi’s former boyfriend, was Ellie’s biological father.

Andi’s The Greatest Love co-stars Dimples Romana and Sylvia Sanchez assured yesterday that she is “okay” despite the online backlash.

Albie Casiño, who was formerly tagged as Ellie’s father, briefly expressed relief over release of the “truth.”

'I'm just happy that the truth is out, I can finally relax now,' he said in a statement released through Cosmopolitan Philippines.

Jake, for his part, has yet to comment about the issue.
