Enchong Dee is bent on keeping the identity of his non-showbiz girlfriend a secret despite persistent speculations that it was model Sam Lewis. “Hindi ko lang maintindihan kasi marami namang artista na may non-showbiz relationship bakit parang naka-focus lang sa akin,” Enchong mulled in an interview on the sidelines of his contract signing with ABS-CBN on Thursday.

He noted the unusual interest of the public in his love life saying that, “Parang talagang nag-re-research ‘yung mga tao. Sabi ko nga ‘Try niyo kayang mag-research sa iba.’”

According to Enchong, no amount of prodding from any person can make him squeal about his girlfriend’s identity, even from King of Talk Boy Abunda. “Kahit sino pa man ang magtanong I don’t want to talk about it. Kasi gusto ko talaga kaming dalawa lang parang nag-uusap. Ayoko na may involved na ibang tao,” he reasoned.

The decision to keep his relationship quiet, Enchong said, he made because he “learned a lot from the past.”

“Hindi naman na-sabotage pero parang everyone’s in it so ‘yun lang. So sabi ko try ko naman na everyone’s not there,” the Once A Princess star said.

What further bolstered the ongoing theory of the public about Sam being his new flame was the photo she posted on her Instagram account a few days ago of a man whose face was only partially seen in the frame.

Enchong neither denied nor addressed the intrigue but told the public, “Try niyo na lang mag-search sa ibang account. I mean there are lots of other things to do. A lot of things to be happy with. Be excited with your own life.”

But when does he plan to reveal his special someone to the public? “Siguro kapag ready na at siguro kapag may iba ng relationship na nakatutok lahat ng tao. Para hindi na sa akin,” Enchong blurted out with a laugh.

Due to his disinterest in revealing who she is, rumors of his girlfriend being “imaginary” started. But Enchong is not one to be affected by such negative speculations.

“Hindi natatawa nga ako eh. Sabi ko the last time na may imaginary friend ako siguro mga two years old or three years old pa ako. Medyo matanda naman na ako ngayon,” the young actor stated.

Another issue that’s circulating online was that this anonymous girlfriend of his was supposedly just a “front” to cover up his true sexual preference.

With obvious resignation, Enchong just shrugged off the repeated rumor and said, “Hanggang ngayon nandoon pa rin tayo? Eh di ganon nalang din. Kung ano ang gusto nilang isipin, ganon naman talaga. Basta ako I’m happy right now and I just always na stay awesome kasi nga kung ganon ang buhay nila wala naman akong magagawa.”

The actor-dancer also reiterated that even though he is a public figure, he doesn’t really enjoy the idea of the limelight zeroing in on his personal life. “I enjoy the limelight when it’s focused on my working life but when it’s my personal life. I mean it’s different. Nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng tao na nagpaubaya sakin ng personal life ko. I have to be happy also,” he ended.
