Despite being lauded for her acting in her first film for 2014, Starting Over Again actress Iza Calzado shrugged off insinuations that she trumped co-star Toni Gonzaga's performance.
In an interview after the film's premiere night on February 11, Iza humbly explained why she thinks people thought that she was better than the Home Sweetie Home star.
'Nangyayari lang because my moments are few so you remember when I come out, but she's the lead. Hindi po magtatagumpay 'yung pelikula if she didn't give her all, eh ang ganda ng pelikula so ibig sabihin magaling po ang bida at kasama na rin po 'yung mga nag-support,' she said.
According to Iza, taking on support roles is something that she enjoys, but she quipped, 'pero maganda rin naman kung bibigyan nila ako ng [lead roles]...

With her performance in the film being lauded by fans and critics and considered flawless, the Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition Doubles host singled out her confrontation scene with Toni as the toughest.

Iza said she's grateful that Toni gave her 'energy' for that sequence.

The ending might come off as unconventional for a Star Cinema flick, but Iza thinks it couldn't have been done any other way. Hindi dahil ako 'yung gumanap ah, it doesn't matter pero sa films kasi just because their love teams it's supposed to be a happy ending. It's still happy eh,' said the actress who plays Patty in the film.

Does she agree with it? 'Oo eh kasi morally also it teaches people na when you make a mistake, you own up to it and not everything you want in life you'll get, especially since she did something 'wrong,'' Iza explained about what she considers as the film's most valuable lesson.
