KC Concepcion has the eager fans of her tandem with Paulo Avelino to thank for their reunion project. In an interview with KC and Paulo during the recently-concluded press conference of their ABS-CBN Christmas special titled Exchange Gift which will air on January 5 next year, she revealed that it was their fans who actually requested for the project,

“Lahat po ng KC-Pau fans, parang nag-request sila. We were shocked na mayroon pong fan groups,” she said.

The rumored couple first worked together in a Maalaala Mo Kaya episode some four years ago. “Nagulat na lang kami na mayroon kaming comments from KC-Paulo fans. Parang nagbibigay sila ng tips sa mga events, pinaparamdam nila, nilabas pa nga si Paulo before,' she shared.

Kilig moments

While the two are known as award-winning performers and for claiming that they are just 'best friends,' they both admitted that they also felt 'kilig' about the certain scenes that they taped for Exchange Gift.

“Siguro may mga time na nadadala na ako sa mga adlib kasi natutuwa na lang din ako sa situation. Minsan lang ako magka-crush. Ang baduy po talaga pero 'yun nga crush ko siya before. Siyempre for a girl maganda din na maka-work mo 'yung [crush mo],' she revealed.

'Totoo naman talaga na 'yung mata niya [maganda]. Parang totoo nga 'yung sinasabi nila na para lang silang nanonood ng reality show,' she added.

If KC was getting carried away because of Paulo's eyes, the latter also confessed to forgetting his lines because of the former.

'Parang like KC, crush ko din si KC. So parang nakakatuwa na 'yung ka-eksena mo ay crush mo, sobrang ganda. Minsan nakakalimutan mo na 'yung linya mo,' the former Walang Hanggan star said.

While they also had kilig moments, they also shared that they had awkward moments since it was their first time to work with each other again after a couple of years.

There are times that 'parang 'yung awkwardness kasi nandun kami sa set as actors, and serious siya sa craft niya sa acting, ako rin. So coming together na unexpected 'yung project, we had to adjust from being friends to being co-workers,' KC explained.

Megastar Sharon Cuneta's eldest daughter further added that there were times that she had to distance herself from Paulo 'kasi baka merong time na gusto niya ng space, gusto niyang mag-internalize sa kanyang character, or whatever. Ayoko na ma-bother na, 'Ang kulit naman nito.' So hinahayan ko siya.”

In fact, there were even times that they would leave the set without even saying goodbye to one another. But she clarified that the said moments didn't in any way tarnish their friendship.

'Siyempre, may times na, you take the backseat and let him do his work, I'll do my work. Then, kita na lang ulit sa taping. In that way, naging sobrang professional kami dun sa project na ito,' KC proudly shared.

Real score

While they initially admitted that they are exclusively dating, the couple's status changed with them saying that they are not just best friends. Despite their claim, fans continued to root for them to eventually end up together.

KC for her part is not completely averse over the said idea. But she confessed that 'timing is everything talaga.'

'At saka kung gugustuhin man ni God, 'di ba? Wala naman tayong control sa puwedeng mangyari. '[Paulo]'s at the age na marami tayong puwedeng gawin, ako rin po. Right now, we're happy na may ginawa kami together,' she said.

“Kung magiging tuluy-tuloy na magiging maganda kung ano ang meron kami, friendship ba yun or connection namin, tuluy-tuloy na magkaintindihan at suportahan sa isa't isa na maging better people at mag-improve. Siyempre, hindi mo naman ipapasok ang isang tao sa buhay ninyo kung ikasasama mo 'yon. So far, okay naman. As far as magtuluy-tuloy po 'yon, then, we don't know,' she ended.
