Derek Ramsay can now rest easy after his estranged wife Mary Christine Jolly finally dropped the concubinage case she filed against him and ex-girlfriend Angelica Panganiban.

“The parties made peace with each other and part of the peace is this one [withdrawal of concubinage complaint],” Atty. Argee Guevarra, Mary’s counsel, said in a recent statement.

The couple’s agreement was spawned by Mary’s withdrawal of the violation of Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act complaint against Derek, which eventually led to them arriving at a settlement.

Although Atty. Guevarra refused to disclose the details of the settlement, he stressed that, “handling a good case is always bettered by a good settlement between the parties.

“Derek and Mary can now move on with their lives but with a renewed realization and deepened sense of commitment to fulfill their parental responsibilities and obligations to their son, Austin,” Atty. Guevarra said.

He added, “Although the legal battle exacted untold stress between the couple, Derek and Mary emerged as victors with their coming to an amicable settlement which is always a win-win solution for all litigants.” (continued on next page)

As proof that the former couple’s relationship as well as Derek’s relationship with his son is finally getting better, the Fil-British hunk star posted a photo of them together on his Instagram account recently.

Mary sees this as something positive according to Atty. Guevarra. “Ang sabi naman niya [Mary], she hopes that Derek would spend more time with his child. I guess, I could glean it from Derek’s camp that Derek himself would want to be a father to his child. Although it’s belated, but huli man at magaling ay hahabol din. They have a lot of catching up to do,” he explained

What would happen to Mary now that all cases has been withdrawn? “She’ll be staying here [in Manila] then she’ll be going back to Dubai next year. I’m sure babalik-balik din naman. Both parties will be shuttling to Dubai and Manila, so bibisita at bibisita rin ‘yung ama,” he shared.
