“I wish you the best,” was all Matteo Guidicelli could say when asked if there’s a possibility that he and Jessy Mendiola can rekindle their thwarted romance.

During the media launch of Line (mobile messenger service) last July 10, many were curious as to how the two dealt with each other following Jessy’s recent confession that they almost became a couple, but decided to be just friends. It was previously reported that the actress even deleted all of her photos with Matteo on her social networking accounts.

But Matteo insisted that he didn’t feel awkward to be working again with Jessy when the endorsement was offered to them about two weeks ago. “Wala naman. Hindi ko alam kung awkward o hindi, pero alam mo, kapag nasa set kami, sobrang sanay kami sa isa’t isa. Siyempre six months kami magkasama sa Paraiso. Our working relationship, our partnership is very nice together.”

Matteo seemed uncomfortable about answering queries about the real score between him and Jessy in light of previous reports that he was the one who allegedly broke up with her over the phone. “We are Line friends,” he safely stated. When asked to comment about their thwarted romance, he vaguely replied, “We’re always close. Hindi ba natuloy?”

Nevertheless, he maintained that he will always treasure his fond memories with Jessy, who admitted that she almost fell in love with Matteo during her press con for her upcoming teleserye, Maria Mercedes. “Talaga? Panoorin ko mamaya sa YouTube [yung interview niya]. Salamat Jess for appreciating me. Kami ni Jessy, sobrang close kami. Magkasama kami sa Paraiso for six months. Sobrang bonded kami ni Jess. Hindi ko talaga makakalimutan yung mga moments na we're always together on the set with our director and everything. We share all those moments and it’s a blessing to work again with her in a new project.”

As for the recent rumors linking him to Sarah Geronimo, Matteo denied that he plans to court her after they supposedly got to know each other better during her concert tour in the U.S. “Wala po. We’re just friends, that’s it.”

As it is, Matteo had been very clear about his desire to pursue his personal interests before entering a romantic relationship. “What I’m really doing right now is I’m just concentrating on my new soap Galema, hosting stint in Biggest Loser and with Ironman (triathlon competition) coming up this August. Yun talaga ang focus ko.”
