When asked by the press on why she remains tight-lipped about the identity of her son’s father, Denise Laurel remarked, “He’s not artista. I want to honor naman his family and his parents.”

The actress stressed that she has already moved on and both of them are on good terms. “For me there’s no reason to hold on to negativity, I have everything that I need, I have everything that I want,” she said.

“I’m very honest and one thing is I will never lie, you know, I always tell the truth. But not necessarily na sa oras na gusto ng mga tao. But you know what, at least ni-respect ng mga tao ang timing ko,” she further commented.

Denise is already happy at this point in her life, stating that she she’s solely focused on securing her child’s future. “[Wini-wish ko na] sana finally makabili na ako ng bahay sa anak ko, na pwedeng hindi pa ako doon, sa parents muna ako para then I have people around my son. Pero maka-ipon man lang for lupa and bahay, tapos when he’s older na we can go there or tatapusin ko ‘yung para sa college fund niya.”

Now that she’s a mother herself, does she want to pursue mother roles in the future just like in Annaliza? “You know what, I know they will come, but after this I want to do something more my age, I want to do something like a 25-year old will do. So sana the next time, something na different rin.”

The actress aspires to portray unique and bolder roles in the future. “I’m dying to do something bold and something shocking, hindi naman shocking na nakakaloka, pero shocking na something of a role,” she said. “Dream ko to do MMK (Malaala Mo Kaya) and portray someone iconic pero gusto kong pag-aralan ‘yung character na ito na kahit tiningnan mo ako sa mata, alam mo na,” she added.

Is doing an indie movie also an option for her? “I’ve been waiting for the right script. I’ve been waiting since Sid Lucero started kasi friends kami so to be part of these indie movies, I always wanted to be. Pero dito at least nababawi ko ‘yung hunger ko for bolder roles sa Annaliza,” she stated.
