Used to playing mostly kontrabida roles on various television series through the years, Maricar De Mesa admitted she is thankful to be the given the chance by Bromance director Wenn Deramas to play a good girl for a change. Alam niyo natutuwa ako kay direk Wenn kasi binabago niya yung role ko kasi most of the time kontrabida ako. Yung last role na nag-guest ako sa kanya sa Kahit Puso'y Masugatan last year, ginawa niya akong mabait na other woman. Magaan kasi direk Wenn eh, as always basta direk Wenn ang trabaho magaan sa kanya at saka systematic kami eh. Most of the time, yung one the spot palit ng script pero very organized and systematic pag si direk Wenn which is why I love working with him,” she shared during the Bromance grand presscon held at Dolce Latte Cafe in Quezon City last May 5.
In Bromance, Maricar plays the role of older sibling to Zanjoe Marudo's twin roles of macho Brando and super effeminate Brandy. The talented actress said it was a breeze working with her former Dyosa co-star. Ibang iba naman dahil dito magkapatid kami,” she explained.

Maricar said she has no reservations about playing an older sister this time around. “Ay okay lang kasi si Zanjoe ang gaang katrabaho, tahimik lang yan pag sa set, minsan makikipagkuwentuhan, natural, natural siya eh, masarap siyang katrabaho,” she said.

Maricar said that Bromance viewers will definitely get a kick out of the scene where Zanjoe shows his butt.

Maricar also admitted that she was impressed with Zanjoe's portrayal of dual characters even when the story got complicated and he had to play the role of the masculine twin masquerading as his very flamboyant twin. Akala ko kasi nung una di ba Zanjoe is very macho, lalaking lalaki yung dating? Nakakatuwa kinaya niya. As a co-worker wala rin akong masabi, hands up din ako kay Z, walang yabang eh, alam mo yun.

Bromance is also a comeback movie of sorts for Maricar who was last seen on the big screen over four years ago. Recently, she has been busy shuttling back and forth between the major networks for various television projects like dramas and fantaseryes. Baka may three years ago na or four years na. Ang tagal ko na palang hindi nag-movies! (laughs)” she admitted.

Although she has become recognizable for her kontrabida roles, Maricar said she really looked forward to playing the role of Ate Joyce in Bromance.

For her dream role, Maricar said she would like to get the chance to do an unorthodox kind of character. Magiging challenging yun sa akin,” she said.
